Making A Murderer Update 33: New Murder Suspect: Karl McLeod #makingamurderer

In recent days, reports of another possible suspect in the Teresa Halbach murder have circulated online. Evidence photos in the above video show a for-sale sign, with Teresa’s phone number and an address on it.

The address listed on Zander Road is the location near where the body of a thirty-two-year-old woman, Areerat Chuprevich from Thailand, was discovered in 2008. She had been missing since April 2003. Authorities had found her blue 2002 Jeep Liberty in the parking lot of St. Michael’s Pub, a few blocks from the Mariner Motel where she had lived with her husband, Tom Chuprevich, a retired doctor. The coroner found her death to be a gunshot wound to the head, just like in the case of Teresa.

In this case the victim knew the alleged murderer. Karl McLeod was married to Tom Chuprevich’s stepdaughter from a previous marriage. Karl was convicted of sexual assault in 1988 and served a prison term. The police surmised that Karl was likely Areerat’s killer, though he committed suicide by hanging himself in May 2006, forty days into an incarceration for assault and robbery of a victim in Green Bay. His death occurred just over half a year after the disappearance of Teresa Halbach on Halloween 2005, so the window of opportunity was open for him to have committed Teresa's murder.

It seems that Karl and Gilbert McLeod had lived just around the corner from where Teresa's photography studio – Pearce Photography, 1599 Western Ave – in Green Bay was located.

There has been a discussion about Karl McLeod possibly being responsible for Amber Wilde's disappearance, though her body has never been found.

If Karl killed Teresa, did the police know about it and cover it up? "Suicide" is a common way to disappear someone in the prison system. And we all know, dead men don't talk.

Another odd thing is that the German murder suspect has an affinity for Thai women. He recently married a Thai woman. More research is needed to determine if he was in the area at the time of the disappearance of Areerat Chuprevich below:

Christmas in Prison in Peru (Guest Blog by Lula)

Christmas was a normal day here. Nothing special happened. The section where I live is quiet and there were no drugs, gangs or rapes.

The foreign men and women had an opportunity to cook their traditional food (at their own expense) and we were allowed to spend four hours under strict supervision with our countrymen. Amazingly, for a little while we forgot about our sorrows.

The opening speech was lovely. Thank you, director, for taking us foreigners in your heart.

I didn’t sit with my country people, but I couldn’t have had it better. I was treated like a queen by men from Russia, Lithuania, Transylvania and Poland, and ladies from Romania, Serbia, Denmark and Libya.

I did learn that Cutex Nail Varnish Remover and Sprite gives you a high and a terrible headache.

It is really hot, so it’s better to shower with cold water.

Some guards are nice. Some want to break you down emotionally. Some hurt you physically, when they get the opportunity.

Making A Murderer Update 31: Details of Ken Kratz' Rape Case

A few weeks ago, I posted a court document about Ken Kratz rape case. Now thanks to this source article, I've being able to make a video detailing what Kratz did:

A petition has been started to prevent Ken Kratz from practising law. If he ever ends up in prison for sex crimes, here's what he can look forward to:

Q1: What Happens To Sex Offenders in Prison?

I'm doing a new series of YouTube videos answering questions about prison. The first one is below. If you have any questions you'd like to see made into YouTube videos, please post them in the comments.

Arizona Aryan Brotherhood Story (Guest Blog by Ron Duncan)

In 1987, I was 29, when I was arrested for conspiracy, manufacturing a controlled substance and money laundering. I was looking at 75 years, so my highly paid attorney and I pleaded to simple possession. At that time, Arizona had mandatory minimum sentences, which, in my case, was 4 years.

After spending the usual time in the Maricopa County 4th Avenue jail, I was transferred to the Arizona Department of Corrections' Alhambra Unit for classification. I found out I was going to Cimarron Unit, Tucson prison to do my time. Cimarron was a maximum security prison and the hub for the 'AB' aka the Aryan Brotherhood. I thought I wouldn't  leave there alive and could not understand why I was sent there and not to a medium or minimum security prison.

Being led to my cell, I was thinking how tough the next 4 years was going to be. My next shock was meeting my cellmate who told me he was doing 25 to life for murder and if he ever got paroled, California wanted him to do the same for murdering an elderly couple and stealing their Winnebago. I was beside myself, asking more questions in my head but getting few answers.

For the next 9 months, I was involved in a fight at least once a week, not for starting trouble, but for keeping a pack of cigarettes, a pair of Reebok tennis shoes, my TV, weekly store, you name it. I hated having to fight to keep my stuff, and to this day, I can honestly say that I kept everything, with the exception of a few sore ribs, jaw, etc.

During my stay, I had to have surgery on my right wrist. When it was done, I went back to my cell the same day with my hand wrapped the size of a basket ball. Before leaving the hospital, the doctor gave me a shot of Demerol, which I needed badly. I asked him about the pain once the shot wore off and he said he was sending a prescription for some powerful pain killer with the guards. I felt relieved knowing that, however, when I asked for the pain relief, I was told I was in prison, not the streets and to stop whining. It took four days before I could tolerate the pain.

Approximately six weeks later, I had to go to the Medical Unit to get the two 3 x 7 inch pins out of my wrist. There was only a sadistic PA there. I asked if he was going to numb my wrist before pulling the pins out. He laughed, told me to quit acting like a baby and take it like a man. He turned to me and as he did I noticed he had a pair of needle nose pliers in his hand. I told him he wasn't using those on me and his reply was, either get this done or he'd call a guard and have me written up for disciplinary action. It took four tries and many extremely painful slips before he finally got them out. He sent me back to my cell without even an aspirin.

I saw two guys die with shanks still in them. One had two in his neck, presumably  because he owed a skinhead $4 for a pack of smokes. The other man  was killed, also by shanks in his neck, right outside of the chow hall. Up until two hours before his death, he'd been in protective custody for the past 13 years  because he'd  stood by a black man's side in a fight at Florence prison aka The Walls, where the condemned go to die. Anyway, this guy finally decided 13 years was long enough, so he'd asked to be released to the general population in another prison. The AB had put a $4000 hit on him 13 years prior. The prison admin agreed, but sent him to Cimarron, and he had no idea till he got there and pleaded with the colonel to send him elsewhere, but the warden had gone home, so his request was denied. An hour later, he was laying on the concrete in front of the chow hall, dead with four shanks in his neck. His body was there for three hours till they called an ambulance to come get him.
Another inmate who was a gynecologist  and had 17 years for assault on his patients was working out at recreation when someone chocked him to death with a bar bell.

In prison, they feed on violence, with a whole world of prison rules and how they live. After about 9 months, the AB finally left me alone.

These are only a few of the activities that went on while I was there. After about a year, I was transferred to a minimum security complex where the same went on but not as frequently.
I was finally free after spending 2 1/2 years in the worst hell I could ever imagine. I never did find out why I was sent to a maximum security prison but I survived, if not a stronger and tougher man, then at least a wiser one.

Making A Murderer Update 30: Suspect George Zipperer #makingamurderer

In recent weeks, a suspect in Making a Murderer has become George Zipperer. A call between detectives Weigart and Remiker indicated that Teresa Halbach may have stopped at the Zipperer property after visiting Stephen Avery’s yard. When questioned by the police, Zipperer lied about his own activities and denied Teresa had ever been there.

A local source close to the events, posted a theory on Reddit under the name Escvelocity:
My theory is that George Zipperer shot Teresa thinking she was trespassing. The Zipperers called chief deputy Eugene Kusche, because they knew him personally. Eugene then contacted deputies Lenk and Colburn, then it was all downhill from there. However, Steven Avery retained excellent attorneys and threw a wrench into things by pushing the framing defense.

According to the Zipperers’ Wiki page:
The Zipperers live at 4433 County Trunk B, near route 310, south of the Avery salvage yard. JoEllen lived at the property with her husband George, daughter, and grandson Jason.
At trial JoEllen testified that she thinks Halbach was there "mid-afternoon," "maybe around 3:00", which was an estimate. She was there for about 15 minutes. She did not say where she was going next. She left a message prior to arriving "that she was having trouble finding our house, but I was outside so I didn't hear it until later, after she was gone. But she found the place." JoEllen did not see Teresa leave.
Teresa could have arrived as early at 2:30pm, could have been 3:00 or a little after. JoEllen was outside raking in the garden and not wearing a watch.
When police called twice on November 3, George Zipperer spoke to them.
Outside the presence of the jury and witness, Dean Strang told the court that Corporal (Leslie) Lemieux of the Calumet County Sherriff's Department made a report that shows she started working on the missing person investigation at about 5:00 on November 3. She reports a call to George Zipperer where he is belligerent on the phone. There is also a report of Investigator John Dedering of Calumet calling at about 9:40pm, says George is extremely belligerent. Strang says he intends to show that George lied about his own activities and Jason's activities, about whether Teresa Halbach was a trespasser, threatened to have a dog eat anyone who came onto the property, wanting Teresa Halbach arrested after being told she was a missing person, and denying that he had contacted Auto Trader or arranged for photographs of the car.

The theory now is that Teresa was at the garage looking to photograph a car and George Zipperer mistook her for a trespasser and shot her.  Another source has told me that the Zipperer grandson in jail knows all the details, and is ready to reveal what his grandfather did to Teresa. Maybe Kathleen Zellner was at the wrong property with her luminol. How can anyone test the Zipperer’s original garage for blood if it has been destroyed?

Amendment: A new garage was being built in 2015 and it is finished now. The garage door is not centered on the new garage and it is on the old one. It is a new garage with a different roof pitch. This has been in progress since 2015. The garage back in 2005 - that could hold answers to Teresa's disappearance - is now gone.

Call between Weigart and Remiker, confirming Zipperer's was the last stop before Teresa disappeared:

Making A Murderer Update 29: Ken Kratz Rape Case

Here's a court document showing that Ken Kratz allegedly forced himself sexually on one of his multiple victims:

On the sexual assault charge filed by the lawyer Thomas Basting, Kratz never spent a day in prison. The charges were negotiated down, so that he would only have a four months license suspension and a fine of $23,904.10, with the sexual assault left out of the conviction. Kratz basically played the system by blaming his addiction, and resumed practicing law. To avoid paying the fine, he filed bankruptcy.

"Kratz has rationalized his poor behavior by confessing to various addictions: to Ambien, to Vicodin, to Xanax, and to sex, though he fails to point to either medical records or expert medical testimony that would explain the exact nature and severity of his conditions, or how they may have affected his ability to conform his behavior to ethical rules."

The court bargaining process is like negotiating a deal for a used car. Over time, the defendant usually agrees to a penalty provided the most serious charges are dropped. Technically, the sexual assault remains an allegation only, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Finger pointers are often the ones doing the stuff they accuse others of. Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey were accused of sexual assault by Kratz. They are serving time for something they didn't do, whereas Kratz is a free man, enjoying the limelight of media interviews and planning on writing a book.
