For the next 2 days, I'm going to post a question about the episode and my answer.
What advice would you offer someone who is enamoured with the glamour and money of drugs and a drug-dealing lifestyle?
I can understand why you are enamoured, but for many people it ends with the police, prison or death. Every time you do drugs, the pleasure slowly decreases, the pain increases, and the addiction gets a stronger hold of you. The addiction is extremely demanding. Over time, it can devastate your life and the lives of your loved ones. You may make fast cash in the short run, but in the long run, dealing will ruin you financially when you get busted and the police confiscate your assets. Your addiction might take your health, and in some cases – as happened to several of my friends – you will die young. For example, my friend, Joey, in Raving Arizona was found dead in his swimming pool with all of his clothes on.
In jail, I was surrounded by people who’d gone much further down the road of drug use than me. Most of them were injecting drugs and had hepatitis C, which is hard to treat and can kill you by slowly destroying your liver. All of the fun, glitz and glamour were gone, but they still couldn’t stop taking drugs. They were committing slow suicide. They had yellow-jaundiced skin and eyes, and their teeth were rotting out. Seeing their condition put me off doing drugs for life, and made me ashamed that I had dealt drugs. You have the opportunity to avoid a road that ends in so much misery. Life is meant at times to be tough and challenging. It takes a strong mind to remain sober and refrain from the lure of drugs. There are better ways to put meaning into your life. Take a look at all of your interests, and try to channel you energy into positive ones. Physical activity in particular will put you on a natural high

There's a saying here in America and, around the world to a degree. You do the crime, you do the time. It appears, while there were certainly normalized rights being abused, that you DIDN'T do the time. In fact, to be banned from re-entering the US for LIFE, you must have been an extremely high-end dealer. 30K pills a week - it's amazing you're a free man, living now a full life in your home country where, many people around the world are put to DEATH, tortured and treated horribly for 30-50 years. I hope you know how truly fortunate you are. To be free, writing books and profiting from your story, to go and "have a pint with your mate" or enjoy your family. While I feel NTGEO and yourself did a good job in telling your story, I hope true reflection and humbleness are with you constantly, because you really got off extremely light cutting that 9 yr. plea deal. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI don't even drink these days, so no pints. :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. People do die from ecstasy and you were helping contribute to their deaths. You need to thank god and the world that you got off so easily. I agree completely with the anonymous poster before me. You should be begging for forgiveness from everyone for the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that educating young people about the dangers of drugs by talking in schools is more productive than begging for forgiveness from everyone for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteAre you for real? You talk about making your voice heard about the treatment you seen/received and yet you were assisting in the death and destruction of people everyday buy selling drugs and now you are making money off them. You are no different from the people in prison that beat up the other prisoner, you did exactly the same thing except you didn't use your fists, you did it with drugs. I hope you enjoy your freedom and the money you are making from ruining peoples lives and probably aiding in their death and destruction of their entire family. If you didn't like American prisons then maybe you should have thought about that before you started selling drugs, Oh yes, that's right, you only thought of yourself and the $$$$ you were making. Yet again it all boils down to the money with you.
ReplyDeleteDid you know you can shorten your urls with Shortest and receive $$$ for every click on your shortened urls.
