Hi Shaun,
A paragraph from the United Nations charter for the Standard Rules for the treatment of prisoners;
Paragraph 17. ( I ) Every prisoner who is not allowed to wear his own clothing shall be provided with an outfit of clothing suitable for the climate and adequate to keep him in good health. Such clothing shall in no manner be degrading or humiliating.
I think Mrs. Hazel Blears and Sheriff Joe and there ilk should start applying a few more of these rules and guidelines, this may help them integrate themselves with the rest of humanity, along side with the incarcerated prisoners with whom they are trying to shame.

So, whatever happened to jeans and a t-shirt?
No chance of jeans and a t-shirt in this facility!
They like to able to tell the difference between us and the outside contractors.
I could be wrong, but as I understand it, the uniforms are to be worn by people doing community service so as to identify them. They will then not be seen by the public as people doing voluntary service. A more modern form of the stocks I suppose.
Have you had a reply yet? As you say, you prefer to be individual in wearing you own clothes. A uniform puts a label on a person, and should only be given as in the case from the comment of Greg Bell

I think anaonymous(e) has misinterpreted my quote, the point I was trying to make is that no prisoner should be humiliated-especially by the issuing of ridiculous, humiliating clothing! If you are to use the comparison of the medevial stocks as a means to dress every prisoner in any form of ridiculous attire at the whim of every crazed prison chief, is not the fact that a person has been placed in prison, by being judged by his or her 'peers'( I say thae word with a heavy degree of sarcasm!), reason enough to identify them? We are supposed to be trying to help integrate inmates back into society, will dressing them in pink boxer shorts or orange jump suits help this or by making them subjects of ridicule alienate them even further?? I am of the opinion that if a person should have to go prison as punishment, they should not have to go to recieve punishment.
